New Straitsville is up in the hills northwest of Nelsonville, one of the old mining towns in this stretch of country. The village is built into steep terrain with narrow streets, and the properties reflect that: small lots stacked on grades, driveways cut into banks, and ground behind the houses that rises sharply and grows over fast when nobody is working it.
